Credit card processing fee for canceled resrevations

Recently I've had a few big reservations cancel last minuet, my cancellation policy allows for a 100 % refund, but that credit card processing fee I have to absorb is a killer. Some will say that's the cost of doing business but is there a way to refund the customer 100% of their reservation cost minus credit card processing fee?

I have it built into my direct booking cancellation policy that refunds are less the CC processing fee. I had a heated discussion about this with VRBO integration support at one point, because from VRBOs perspective, 100% refund means the guest gets back 100% of what they paid. So it’s a bit of a grey area. I changed my VRBO cancellation policy to no refund to combat this.

I agree with this one hundred percent, this needs to be put to the top of the list. When I get a cancelation, I tell the client that they're going to eat that. I absolutely will not eat it period.

I put in my listing that there is a 2.9% charge for cancellations.

Randy Kirsch Same. Well, I charge the exact CC fees, but estimate it to be about 3% so people know what to expect.
