iOS saved replies button doesn't work

The button to the left of the message field in the iOS app for bringing up the 'saved replies' intermittently doesn't work.

I noticed that if you go to the inbox, then click on any message and then click the saved messages button, they do work.

However, they do not work when you click on any reservation name directly from the calendar view and then go to messages tab... you can type a new message but you cannot open the saved replies.
